Sica Films is a small dedicated team of goofy people who are doing what they love everyday.
We are a video production team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. When not filming, we have a small studio at the ‘Two Twenty building’ where we drink a beer on Fridays & edit late into the night. We hang out beyond work all the time, and we even all took a Mandarin Chinese class together! We all love a good story, quality photography, an emotionally charged song, and big plate of dumplings.
In addition to wedding films, Sica Films has worked on a wide range of commercial projects: Happy clients include Holiday Inn, Maple Leaf Foods, Gaia Foundation UK, Canadian Fine Artists Denyse Klette, Brent Heighton and Jonn Einerssen, Agriculture In The Classroom Canada, David Chilton Wealthy Barber, and more. We’ve also created music videos for Canadian bands We Were Lovers and These Hands. Lots of fun stuff.

I never thought I’d own my own video production studio – it was kinda just a dream. And then one day I quit my day job and plunged in full time with my wife, creating Sica Films (named after her) …and it still scares me like crazy. But its the first time in my life I look forward to work every day. We get to meet amazing new people daily and collaborate on incredible projects that wouldn’t be possible just on our own. Sica Films is a perfect combination of everything I love to do.
Always learning. Even though we do this professionally, it’s hard to call myself a pro when there’s always something new to learn. I’m never satisfied with the ordinary, and our films will constantly reflect our evolving creativity and desire for new fantastic things.
I love… Longboarding on the paved paths at Waskesiu lake. Taro slush bubble tea. Intelligent, progressive electronic music. A well-tuned drum kit. Dipping dumplings in hot chile oil and vinegar. The light before sunset. Watching Jess squeal with delight when she sees a tiny cute animal. Holding her close. Those few and far between moments when I actually understand someone speaking Mandarin. Our Creator.
Sica Films is available for weddings, event coverage and promotional films. Contact us to collaborate on something sweet.

I have always felt at home amongst the arts, and the creative people involved in them. I grew up in a big loving family of DIY, artists, builders, & makers of endless home and crafty projects. Everything was right in my world if I had a book in hand or was sketching ideas in a new artbook. I was never much for technology until I fell in love with my husband Josh. He knew so much about every computer, software, camera, video, editing, and sound. Josh really taught me how to appreciate the art of being behind the lens verses only seeing the end result.
Memories are so important to me. They stay in our minds and we do our best to hold onto them, to relive and dream about them. Today we have an over abundance of amazing technology at our disposal. We can use it to capture memories, loved ones, and events in a way not possible even a few years ago.
I also grew up a romantic in a doubtful world. My marriage to my husband was a day of faith, happiness, and love. Oh how I wish I could go back to that day. Experience everything all over again.
That’s why I love so much what we do. To try and creatively capture that faith. That love. That happiness between a couple and their closest friends and family on a wedding day. Films about weddings and couples. It’s proof it’s not hopeless to be a romantic. It confirms the importance of memories. The art of always thinking creatively.

Growing up it would be rare to find me without a book in-hand. From Steinbeck to biographies, I loved characters! The imagery and creative worlds filled with unique concepts drew me (and usually kept me up much too late at night, with a flashlight under the covers, reading until I fell asleep). I naturally developed my own narrative style, and occasionally my writing would pay off when I was able to get published in the odd local or national journal. I also quickly developed a love for music and sound after studying multiple instruments, joining a couple of local bands and becoming a piano teacher. And whether I was at a dance studio, or having a random solo dance party in my living room (happens regularly!), I came to appreciate that the art of movement was closely associated with music and I loved that too!
The next step was to explore visual art through fashion and photography. Thank you Fashion Channel, Vogue magazine, Alexander McQueen and Coco Rocha (a living art canvas who is truly my source of inspiration), for helping me to study and continually deepen my appreciation for design and providing a free “education” to me.
I don’t believe in fate or destiny. I do believe in knowing who you are inside, working hard, mapping a course and taking chances. After spending a year and a half teaching piano, studying Chinese, furthering my photography experience and doing volunteer work, I found the path that would combine all my creative passions. Or more correctly stated, that path found me. My good friend Josh Baker, who also happens to be the most talented guy I personally know, saw potential in me and invited me to be a part of the Sica Films team. To say I was honored would be an immense understatement. After pondering his offer for about 1.5 seconds, I accepted and haven’t looked back.
Beyond my technical interests in the tricks of videography, what I really love is people. Art exists because people influence, inspire and create, each with their unique combinations of traits which make them who they are. It’s exciting finding that formula of qualities which make up each person, (did I mention I love characters?), and using it as my inspiration to create something that they’ll cherish. I love being invited into someone’s world, getting to know them and catching glimpses of their greatness.
